Prana Lotus Therapy
I offer a space of both compassion and thoughtful challenge to shift away from complacency and toward change. My passion lies in working with marginalized communities—specifically the LGBTQ+ communities and communities of color. I also have extensive clinical experience with substance addiction, mood, personality disorders, chronic illness and codependency.
Additionally, I thoroughly enjoy working with families and couples, using the Gottman Method and Structural Family techniques. While I use traditional methods such as cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy, I prefer to branch out to what functions the best for my client given their identity and culture as well as personal interests. For some, this may mean using narrative therapy or therapy through poetry and art.
A SAFE SPACE FOR EVERY IDENTITY, With Anastasia Sabga, LCSW
Virtual Mental health care in Florida, colorado and Vermont serving Families, Couples, and the LGBTQ+ community
Prana, a sanskrit word, means "life force, or breath." The lotus flower symbolizes rebirth. I combined the two words together in order to represent the journey we take in therapy to nurture our life force and rise above the "mud", or life's challenges. It is through this journey we can gradually achieve spiritual growth and peace.
As the Buddha says, "Just like the lotus, we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate into the world." This quote embodies the mindset I carry into my therapeutic practice.
My Approach
To build a life where we can honor our true authenticity can be quite challenging when there are outside forces working against us. Whether it be family, societal pressures, privilege, identity, or co-occurring mental health—I strive to connect you with the resources needed to support your wellbeing and act as a guide on your journey.
Liberation-Focused Care
I believe that the intersection of race, class, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, culture and personal experiences shape who a person is and how they have been taught to exist in our world. I practice from an anti-racist and culturally responsive lens, and I do not expect clients from marginalized communities to educate me on their lived experiences.
Identity-Affirming Care
Come as you are and leave each session feeling more empowered toward who you want to be. I offer care which places your identity front and center through promoting safety, inclusion, and an active celebration of who you are.
Mind–Body Connection
A yoga teacher once told me, "there is no balance without breath." When we understand how to recognize and respond to the signals our body is giving us, we are closer to emotional regulation. I am committed to guiding you toward aligning your mind and body through somatic techniques.
